"Interdisciplinary studies on ecosystem services: linking science to decision makers"

Summary
The aim of the talk is to provide an overiew of three interdisciplinary studies on ecosystem services, ranging from the local to the country scale, highlighting the questions, challenges, and results of the research and showing how these have been shared with the corresponding decision makers.

Biography
Dr. Balvanera is a professor at an interdisciplinary research center at the National University of Mexico, the Centro de Investigaciones en Ecosistemas at UNAM, and does research on the links between biodiversity and ecosystem services collaborating with interdisciplinary teams at scales ranging from the local to the global scale. She holds a PhD in ecology from the National University of Mexico. 

NOTE: Community colloquia are generally talks of broad interest geared toward a diverse, sophisticated audience. Their purpose is not only to enhance knowledge and understanding, but also to bring people together and promote interaction that will strengthen the community.
