"Getting the Shot:
Photography Tips for Bren Students"

James Badham
Media Liaison
Bren School

Wednesday, May 29, 2013
11:30 - 12:30
Bren Hall 1414

Summary: Bren students frequently travel both locally and around the world to attend conferences, serve internships, conduct field work, and address the needs of Master's Projects. This provides a great opportunity to bring back photographs that can be used in a variety of ways.

At this casual lunchtime seminar, Bren School Media Liaison (and unofficial photographer) James Badham will take you through the point-and-shoot process with the goal of having you return from your next journey with a memory card (or two or three) full of images that you can use in your own materials and that can also help us show the world what our amazing students are up to here, there, and everywhere else.

What works? What doesn't? What subjects should you look for and which ones should you avoid? How close or far should you be? What are "antlers" and "tunnel vision" as they apply to photography? James will cover purpose, composition, focus, context, and content and offer simple, beginner-friendly bits of technical advice and lots of examples from other students. If you need a little nudge to unleash your inner photog, then join us.
