While a student at the Bren School, Victoria Broje (Phd, 2006) redesigned an oil skimmer to increase its efficiency, then licensed the design for commercial production. The skimmer is now being used in the Gulf of Mexico as part of the effort to corral the millions of gallons of oil that have been released by the BP spill. |
