Summary
Bren School professors Sarah Anderson, Andrew Plantinga, and Naomi Tague will introduce the SERI Fire research initiative, which is bringing together an interdisciplinary team to pursue new strategies for managing wildfire under conditions of climate change. They will also discuss the book The Big Burn: Teddy Roosevelt and the Fire that Saved America (Mariner Books, 2010) by Timothy Egan, the official selection for UCSB Reads 2014, The panel will focus on the politics, the economics, and the science of wildfire, which come up in the book.
