THE BREN SCHOOL OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE AND MANAGEMENT Presents
Andrew Kotchen and Matthew Berman Massachusetts and New York
Thursday May 17, 2007 "GreeN.O.LA: Rebuilding Green in the Wake of Hurricane Katrina" Hosted by Bren Professor Gary Libecap
Andrew Kotchen and Matthew Berman are the co-founding principals of workshop/apd, a design firm with offices in New York City and Nantucket, Massachusetts. In 2006 the firm won an international design competition to rebuild a city block of New Orleans using sustainable design methods. Intended as a prototype of green development the project is being undertaken in collaboration with Global Green USA and the actor Brad Pitt. The initial success of these efforts spurred Conservation Magazine to name Kotchen and Berman among the people to watch in 2007. They will be speaking at the Bren School about their work on the GreeN.O.LA project and the challenges and opportunities of designing and building green. __________________________________________________________________________________
