"Driving Eco-Innovation by Increasing Resource-Productivity and Green-Purchasing"

 

Earth is at the tipping point. We are approaching the point of no return with respect to climate change. Eco-innovation and eco-products are essential for sustainable development. In this talk, Ryoichi Yamamoto will review recent developments in eco-innovation and the international green-purchasing movement.

 

A Professor at the University of Tokyo's Institute of Industrial Science, Dr. Yamamoto is an expert in environmentally sound materials and designs, and Life-Cycle Assessment.  He is currently Science Advisor for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, and Science; President of the Institute of Life Cycle Assessment Japan; President of the International Green Procurement Network; and a member of the steering committee of the EcoProducts Exhibition. He has lectured as a guest professor at 32 universities in China, including those in Beijing and Tsinghua. Dr. Yamamoto received his Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Tokyo in 1974.
