Bren Community - Faculty - Catherine Ramus

Catherine Ramus, Assistant Professor – Organizational and Environmental Mgmt.

PhD, HEC, Université of Lausanne (Switzerland); MPA, Harvard University; BA, UC Berkeley

To transform ideas and knowledge into consensus and action, environmental managers require strong leadership skills and a keen understanding of organizational dynamics. Catherine Ramus, who has held positions at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and IMD International, where she conducted research with companies that were interested in improving their environmental management practices, provides Bren students with a thorough grounding in these critical management components. Professor Ramus teaches organizational and team dynamics, negotiation, and environmental management, covering such topics as motivating employees, managing employee performance and external stakeholders, leadership, business ethics, innovation, and group facilitation. Her research interests include how organizations can support employee-led environmental problem-solving and value creation, and how a commitment to environmentally sustainable practices can help them attract and retain exceptional employees.
