Sangwon Suh’s research focuses on the sustainability of the human-nature complexity through understanding materials and energy exchanges between them. Over the past 15 years, he has been working on the theoretical foundations and practical applications of life-cycle assessment (LCA) and industrial ecology. In particular, Dr. Suh has contributed to the use of both economic and engineering principles in understanding the choice of technologies in the market and their human health, environmental, and resources impacts. Dr. Suh was appointed a member of the International Resource Panel (IRP) by the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) and served as the Coordinating Lead Author of the Assessment Report 5 by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). He received the Leontief Memorial Prize from the International Input-Output Association (IIOA), and the Robert A. Laudise Medal from the International Society for Industrial Ecology (ISIE).
