Monica Bulger, Director, Bren Communication Center PhD, Education, UC Santa Barbara Monica Bulger teaches courses and workshops aimed at improving Bren students’ communication efforts, with a specific focus on data visualization, presentation, and environmental communication. She co-founded the Bren Communications Center in 2005 as a resource for graduate students to develop and improve their writing skills and has expanded its offerings to include instruction in visual design and identity management. Her research in multimedia learning and digital literacy inform her instruction of presentation design—an understanding of how people cognitively process information—enables her students to maximize their message delivery. Dr. Bulger earned her PhD in Education from UC Santa Barbara in 2009. She is currently a researcher at the Oxford Internet Institute and a research consultant for Duarte Design. |
