
Jennifer
Purcell Deacon is assistant dean of development for the Bren School of
Environmental Science & Management. She administers the activities
of the school's external constituents. She and her development team
serve as the primary liaisons between the Bren School and the
corporations, foundations, and individuals who wish to support the
school's vision and mission through charitable investments. Jennifer has
eighteen years of major-gift development experience in secondary- and
higher-education environments.
Since
1997 Jennifer has designed and implemented several development programs
at UC Santa Barbara, serving as assistant provost for development for
the College of Creative Studies, director of development for the
University Libraries, and assistant dean of development for the
Department of Social Sciences. Prior to joining the UCSB community,
Jennifer served as an educational consultant/restructuring coordinator
to the Santa Barbara High School Districts in Santa Barbara, California,
and later as director of marketing and development for a community of
the FACT Foundation.
Jennifer
has served as Vice-President of the Board of the Santa Barbara Maritime
Museum and the Tri-Counties Vassar Club. She is the immediate past-president of
the Board of Directors of the State Street Ballet in Santa Barbara. An alumna of Vassar College (1987, Political Science) she holds a
New York State teaching credential in the social sciences.
