Lotus Vermeer

As the Bren School’s Assistant Dean for Development, Lotus Vermeer works closely with the dean, faculty, and staff to raise funds to support Bren School research and teaching operations and initiatives. She coordinates with Career Development Director Dave Parker to manage the school’s Development staff.

A marine biologist by training, since 2012, Dr. Vermeer has been the Marine Director of the Global Sustainable Fisheries Program at The Nature Conservancy (TNC). For nine years, she served as the director of TNC’s Channel Islands Program, and prior to that she spent three years at the Earthwatch Institute in Boston, where she was both director of research ¬†and director of the Earth and Marine Sciences Program. Dr. Vermeer has a PhD in Marine Ecology from Dalhousie University, a Master of Science in Marine Resource and Environmental Management from the University of the West Indies, and a Master of Science in Behavioural Ecology and Primatology from McGill University.
