Biography
Christopher Costello is Associate Professor of Environmental and Resource Economics at the Donald Bren School of Environmental Science & Management, UC Santa Barbara. His research is primarily in the area of environmental regulation and natural resource management under uncertainty, with a particular emphasis on information, its value, and its effect on management decisions. He is also interested in the process and design of adaptive management programs in which learning (to resolve uncertainty or asymmetric information) is actively pursued. Topical interests include biological diversity, introduced species, regulation of polluting industries, marine and fisheries policy, and incomplete property rights. Costello frequently collaborates with researchers outside of economics, e.g. statistics, ecology, biogeography, and mathematics.
