Biography

JENNIFER PURCELL DEACON

Jennifer Purcell Deacon is the Assistant Dean of Development for the Donald Bren School of Environmental Science & Management. She administers the activities of the School’s external constituents, and together with her development team are the primary liaisons between the Bren School and corporations, foundations and individuals who wish to support the Bren School's vision and mission through charitable investments.

Jennifer has sixteen years of major gift development experience in secondary and higher education environments. Since 1997 Jennifer has designed and implemented several development programs at UC Santa Barbara, serving as the Assistant Provost for Development for the College of Creative Studies, Director of Development for the University Libraries, and Assistant Dean of Development for the Social Sciences. Prior to joining the UCSB Community she served as an educational consultant/restructuring coordination to the Santa Barbara High School Districts in Santa Barbara, CA and later as the Director of Marketing and Development for a community of the FACT Foundation.

Jennifer has served as an officer on the Board of the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum and the Tri-Counties Vassar Club. Currently, she serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the State Street Ballet in Santa Barbara, CA. She is a Vassar College alumna (1987 Political Science) and holds a New York State teaching credential in the Social Sciences.

Jennifer is married and has two teenage boys. With her family, Jennifer loves to sail, backpack, ski and explore.
