Prior to arriving at the Bren School, Sheetal Gavankar spent twelve years as an engineer and product manager in the semiconductor industry. Her long-standing interest in the environmental and social impacts of emerging technologies brought her to the Bren School in 2009. Her research focuses on sustainability assessments of the products and services enabled by emerging technologies in the face of high uncertainties, as well as the role of uncertainties in the communication of risks to the public. She is jointly advised by Dr. Sangwon Suh and Dr. Arturo Keller. Her third committee member is Dr. Sarah Anderson.
