Services - Why does my ArcView Project only open on the computer where I created it?
If you notice that you HAVE to use just one computer in the SCF to view your ArcView projects, you probably have themes, etc. stored on that local computer. We will be re-imaging all SCF computers periodically, so ALL INFORMATION WILL BE DELETED FROM THE LOCAL MACHINES. Therefore, you need to do two things so you don't lose data.

A. Change your settings on each new project so everything is saved to your H: drive, and available from any computer.

1. Create a folder on your H: drive called ArcView_Data or something similar. DO NOT include spaces in the folder name. (You have to do this just once.)
2. Do the following steps for EACH new project you create.
3. Create a new folder in H:\ArcView_Data for each new project. i.e. Project1
2. Start ArcView
3. File -> New Project
4. Make a New View
5. File -> Set Working Directory
6. Type in "H:\ArcView_Data\Project1" without the quotes

B. Move your old data to your H: drive

1. Log onto the computer where your project opens.
2. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp , where "username" is your username.
3. Select all files (but not folders) in this Temp folder.
4. Drag these to H:\ArcView_Data\ProjectFolder where ProjectFolder is the folder where you saved that project.
5. Open your project on a different computer.
6. When it asks you where your theme is, just navigate to H:\ArcView_Data\ProjectFolder and select it.
