These instructions explain how to convert a file into a PDF in the SCF lab, using PDFCreator.
1) Log into one of the computers in the SCF.
2) Open the document you wish to make into a PDF.
3) Go to File -> Print
4) For the printer, choose PDFCreator
5) If printing 4 pages of a Word document each page of .pdf, be sure
to choose 4 pages per sheet in the Zoom section of the dialogue box.
6) Click OK, OK and OK and OK.
7) Wait...
8) When PDFCreator dialogue box pops up,Check "After saving open
the document with the default program" and click Save.
9)Navigate to correct location on the G: or H: drive, and rename the
document if necessary, and click Save.
10)Wait.......A large document might take a few minutes.
11)Adobe Acrobat Reader should open up the document so you can check
the orientation and size. If it doesn't, navigate to the location where
you saved it and double-click on it to open it.
These instructions explain how to convert a Microsoft PowerPoint slide into a PDF for poster printing at Kinko's. It uses PDFCreator, available in the labs.
1) Open your Powerpoint poster
2) Go to File -> Page Setup
3) Choose Custom and set the Poster to one-half the final size. i.e
if you want a 6' x 4' poster, enter 36" x 24."
4) Set to Landscape orientation, and click OK
5) Go to File -> Print
6) Choose PDFCreator as the printer
7) Click on Properties -> Advanced
8) Choose PostScript Custom Page Size
9) Change settings to one-half the full size poster. e.g. a 6' x 4'
powerpoint poster becomes 36" x 24".
IMPORTANT: Enter 24 for the width and 36 for the height.
10) Click OK and OK and OK.
11) Check Scale to Fit Paper and click OK.
12) Wait...
13) When PDFCreator dialogue box pops up,Check "After saving open
the document with the default program" and click Save.
14) Navigate to correct location on the G: or H: drive, and rename the
document if necessary, and click Save.


15) Wait.......A large file might take a few minutes.

These instructions explain how to convert Microsoft PowerPoint slides from class notes to a .pdf with 6 slides per page, to conserve printing allocations.
1) Open your Powerpoint lecture
2) Go to File -> Print
3) Choose PDFCreator as the printer
4) In the dialogue box under 'Print What' choose Handouts, and to the
right of that choose (e.g.) 6 per page.
5) Click OK.
6) Wait (a long time)...for the diaglogue box to appear
7) When PDFCreator dialogue box pops up, Check "After saving open
the document with the standard program" and click Save.
8) Navigate to correct location on the G: or H: drive, and rename the
document if necessary, and click Save.
