- Computing environment resources supported for all participants include at minimum:
- a dedicated or shared computer, terminal, or other access point;
- a uniform operating system;
- connections to internal networks and to the Internet;
- a personal profile (authentication and preferences), applicable
throughout the baseline environment;
- a personal Internet presence, and the means of maintaining it;
- persistent, shared online storage, regularly backed up;
- high-resolution and high-speed hardcopy;
- email;
- electronic calendars (shared and personal);
- basic personal productivity applications (word processing, spreadsheet,
presentation graphics, etc.).
Instruction
The Bren School computing environment enables its students to complete their degree objectives and allows students to develop skills advantageous to their success beyond the scope of their degree. It facilitates and promotes the use of advances in instructional technology.
Research
The Bren School computing environment enables its researchers to be active participants in the Bren, UC, national, and international scholarly communities. The computing environment accommodates both specialized laboratories and shared resources (equipment and software).
Outreach
The Bren School computing environment provides the School's public online presence, to promote the School's products and services, and to promote interaction between the School and the community at large.
Administration
The Bren School computing environment supports administrative functions required for the School's operation. The School provides the training necessary for its administrators to operate and exploit the computing environment.
