In addition, if you do not want to leave the SCF, you can use AIMExpress. AIM is a simple messenger program, akin to ICQ, or AOL IM. However, the machines in the SCF are there for students to work on. Please do not use AIM frivolously. Feel free to use AIM to communicate with other students, work on group projects together, or communicate with significant others.
AIMExpress is a simple applet, designed to allow you to interact with anyone using AOL IM, or AIM. To access the program, open a web browser to the page:
http://www.aol.com/aim/aimexpress.html
This will open the homepage for AIMExpress. If you wish to read any information about the program, scroll down. If not, click the big red Start button.
If you have an AOL username and password, you may enter them, and simply click the sign on button.
If you do not, click on the register button. This will bring up a new web screen, asking you to enter a username, password, and email account. Once this information has been entered, you can access Aim any time later using the same username and address. We STRONGLY advise against using your Bren username or password, as this program may have holes in its security.
