K. N. Ninan, Visiting Professor, Environmental Economics
Dr. Ninan is a visiting professor from the Center for Ecological Economics and Natural Resources
Institute for Social and Economic Change in Bagalore, India, where he is professor and department head. He received his PhD from the University of Mysore, India, in 1984. Born and raised in Kenya, he has been a visiting professor or fellow in universities and institutions in the U.K., France, and Japan.
His areas of research relate to the economic and institutional aspects of biodiversity conservation, sustainable use and management of forest and water resources, etc. His recent books include The Economics of Biodiversity Conservation-Valuation in Tropical Forest Ecosystems (Earthscan, 2007) and Conserving and Valuing Ecoystem Services and Biodiversity-Economic, Institutional and Social Challenges (Earthscan, in press).
